I went through so many emotions including crying at different times of the day over this situation.
It has been a very trying September. With my job on the line due to the vaccine mandate, my mind and spirit has been going through a roller coaster. For those who have followed my blog for over 4 years, you know that I started working with the City Government of NY, I was very happy to get the position after temping for many years. Years later, we have this situation. The COVID situation was a struggle for small business owners and mental health issues at an all time high. I struggled with working at home initially but then saw an opportunity to work on my side hustles. So now we go back to the office full time to find out that the vaccine mandate for my job is to get one dose of the vaccine by September 27 or lose your job. I went through so many emotions including crying at different times of the day over this situation.
I decided to contact some of the temp agencies that I have worked with and start looking for another job. I was so frustrated that I had to be put through this but I have rights as a US citizen what I choose to put in my body. Until there was some sort of breakthrough, I had to take the weekly COVID PCR test just to keep working.
I was told that we could upload the religious exemption letter but then, I was told that it would not be approved. Another heartbreak!! My only help at that point was my union-Dc 37. Through negotiations, I was contacted that I could upload the exemption letter. I was so happy! I don’t know if I can say that this is it but I want to testify to what God has already done!
By the way, if you are seeking an exemption letter, you can contact emoaf.org. The organization charges $25 which I though was kind of steep but I got what I needed so I am grateful!
