Galatians 5:13 – For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
When trying to decide which ministry to sign up for , take a look at what is offered and ask questions:
- What does this ministry do?
- What are the tasks that need to be performed?
- What are the days and hours of time that need to be sacrificed to be apart of this ministry?
Some may already have an idea if they have come from another church. Even in that situation, you should still pray and be open. He may be opening the door to minister somewhere else.
1 Peter 4:10 – As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
You’ve chosen your ministry and now you are ready to begin.
Every ministry has a ministry leader. They will guide you as to what your assignment will be. Nothing is ever “set in stone” so if you are told that there will be a change in the assignment, then make the change.
Hebrews 13:17 – Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.
As you continue your journey in your new ministry, you will come across brethren that you will become close friends with. It’s an awesome experience and blessing. With the joys of friendship, you will be able to build one another up in the Lord.
Proverbs 27:17 – As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.
1 Thessalonians 5: 14 – Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all.
Just as there will be people who will bring you joy, there will also be people who will create a lot of trouble and friction. How should you handle this situation?
Matthew 18: 15 – 17 – Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.
Remember that God has a plan for your life. Don’t seek high positions. If God wants to elevate you, He will do it. Don’t get envious of others’ position. Just be faithful in where He has placed you. Learn from the place you are in. When you get to that place of leadership, you will have testimonies to go along with it.
1 Corinthians 3: 3 – For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?
1 Corinthians 13:4 – Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up.
Galatians 5:26 – Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
Titus 3: 3-5 – For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.
When God places you in Leadership, remember that you are still a Servant. Stand for truth and righteousness. Don’t stand for foolishness to keep your position. At the end of the day, You will have to give an account before God for the decisions you make.
Luke 22:26 – ……he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves.
Exodus 18:21 – Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.
Prayer: Father God, Thank You for the opportunities to serve your Body that You may be glorified. Help me to be satisfied with where I am that many will be blessed and uplifted with what we are each called to do within the Body of Christ. Amen.
