Matthew 28:19-20 – Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.
Thinking back to my days as a new Christian, there were some fears in sharing the Gospel. I thought to myself how do I talk to people about the Lord? How will they react to what I have to say? I felt more confident to speak when I was with a group than by myself.
Jeremiah 1:17 – Therefore prepare yourself and arise, And speak to them all that I command you. Do not be dismayed before their faces, Lest I dismay you before them.
You want your life to be pleasing to God and do whatever you can to share His Word so that those whom you minister to will have the gift of eternal life.
I worked as an accountant doing temporary work for many companies. That became my mission field. As I met new people and they had the opportunity to know about my life, they were able to recognize that I was a Christian. It was an open door to share my testimony.
Not everyone is called for street evangelism. Some are called to minister to specific people or people groups for the Gospel. For example, if you are an artist (singer, painter, etc), God may be calling you to minister to other artists. Some are called to minister in places that are not familiar such as overseas mission field or people of different nationalities that you don’t usually hang around.
I heard a testimony of a man who ministers to people who are in a coma. I thought that was weird considering you would not know if the person came to Christ or not. But that’s when the Lord takes over. Your job is to make sure they get the Gospel. It’s up to them to accept it whether in a coma or not. God sees everything and he knows the heart.
What is Discipleship? Training and exhorting new believers in Christ in the ways of the Lord through the Word of God and Daily living. New believers in Christ will be watching how you live out the Word of God in your life. Make sure your life is something a new believer would want to copy. You’re not perfect but they can see that whatever situation you are in, God will be glorified.
According to Acts 8: 26-40 there was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official to the Queen of Ethiopia, who was reading the Book of Isaiah in his chariot. The Holy Spirit spoke to Philip to go the chariot. He asks the Ethiopian if he understands what he is reading. He responds that he needs guidance to understand the scripture. Philip explains the scripture and shares the Gospel. Not only does he gives his life to the Lord, he finds a body of water nearby and gets baptized by Philip.
This is Discipleship!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Preach to all those God has led you to speak with.
Lets look at some scriptures:
Matthew 4:19 – Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Acts 13:47 – For so the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have set you as a Light to the Gentiles, That you should be for salvation to the ends of the Earth”.
Romans 1:16 – For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
1 Peter 3:15 – But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.
1 Corinthians 15:1-2 – Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
Matthew 5:14 – You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Mark 8:35 – For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it.
Acts 1:8 – But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Titus 2:1 – But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine.
Psalm 105:1 – Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples!
Acts 20:24 – But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
