Matthew 6:24 – “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon”.
It’s about to get real on this blog!! This is a struggle I have had for years. I have joined so many MLM (multilevel marketing) companies to have the dream of making big money and it just never panned out well for me. The dream of buying my first home in cash with no mortgage, the BMW or Mercedes and the walk in closet with beautiful clothes and shoes. The list goes on and on. Like every christian, we know that God should come first. But if we are real with ourselves, is He really first in our lives?
How do we handle the finances that He has given us? Do we just spend it lavishly and pile up debt? Are we tithing? Does God have the first fruits of our labor?
I have struggled with tithing for years! I will be consistent for a season and just “fall of the wagon”. My mindset would be “oh, I’ll just pay it later” but I could never catch up.
At work, I am prone to lateness. I will be consistent getting on time for a season and again “fall off the wagon”. Same with church attendance. When does it end?
If we are not consistent with the things He has blessed us with, how do we expect Him to give us more?
Matthew 25:21 – His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
There is joy and peace when we follow a consistent prayer life, work life, church life and home life as the Lord leads. When we fall in line with what He has asked us to do, the “windows of heaven” open up in our lives.
Matthew 6:19-21 – Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Where does your treasure lie? In your bank account or your salvation? In fame or bringing someone to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ?
All the money we store up in this world that we call Earth will not go with us to our eternal place. Only the things we do for Christ will matter.
Prayer: Father God, I come to you this day that you will change my life to the life you have called me to live. Help me to be consistent in the things you have called me to do. Forgive me for not being faithful in what you have placed in my hands. Help me to be a testimony on my job, my church, my home and everywhere you have placed me. Amen
