What is Bastille Day?
Bastille Day marks the storming of the Bastille prison on July 14, 1789, by angry Parisian crowds. You can read more about it here.
Bastille Day was celebrated in Manhattan on 60th Street and Lexington on Sunday July 1oth. I had a great time so I wanted to share some pics with you.
As I came into the festivities, I was ready to grab something to eat. They were selling Creme Brulee like crazy. People were just pulling out the cash for this delicacy so I jumped right on in and got myself one. It was so good, I didn’t want it to end.
As I continued on I knew I needed a good lunch, so I bought a North African dish with mac and cheese. It was delicious and I was full.
For dessert, I had to end it all with the ever popular french crepe. I got the apple and cinnamon filling.
After all that eating, I walked around to see other foods, products and services offered at the festival..Including a marching band!
The puppet show was really cute. The kids and adults enjoyed it.
Ended off the festivities with people gathering around a large TV screen to watch the Soccer (or called football) game between France and Portugal.
Congrats to Portugal on their win!
