BE MATURE BY WARREN WIERSBE
Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer – Rom 12:12
But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance – Rom 8:25
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. -Gal 6:9
Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. – Ps 37:7-9
Patience has not been my best virtue. Maybe in some areas of my life. But in the areas that I seek the most help – relationship, ministry, hard to deal with people, where to live…I tend to take matters in my own hands.
I felt like I have long suffered for such a longtime waiting on the things that I want so bad. Its not easy waiting over 19 years to be married. It’s not easy not being in music ministry for over 6 yrs. Its not easy struggling with money and trying to put finances together to record your first album.
Sometimes you think to yourself “At my age, I should have accomplished…..”. It’s just not that easy.
I have to make a determination in my spirit that God has a plan for me and that the plan is good.
I know He wants to cultivate in our lives the fruit of the Spirit (Gal 5:22-23) in order to grow mature in Him.
So how do we combat this impatience? The Word and Prayer
The ministry of the Word of God and prayer is important if the heart is going to be established. A heart that is not established cannot bear fruit.
Job endured many trials when his produce, land and children were demolished. His wife told him to curse God and die. His friends told him that he was living in sin. How would you react in this situation? I’m sure if I would want to curse God but I would definitely feel like dying.
Job chose to trust God and God later blesssed him with a wife and beautiful daughters. God restored his land and he was tremendously blessed. “Blessed are those who perservere” (James 5:11).
Most of the time, blessings come through trials. Many have considered suffering a curse from God but many prophets and disciples suffered and were persecuted for the sake of Christ. In the end, there was a heavenly reward waiting for them..including Jesus Christ who suffered on the cross for our sins.
Satan wants to use your impatience to rebel against God so that you will not be blessed of have any eternal reward. We must be careful of the devils tricks. He comes to steal, kill and destroy but God has come to give us life abundantly.
PRAYER: Give us life more abundantly in You. Give us the Fruit of the Spirit where we can rest in knowing that You have everything under control and that you know what is best for our lives. Help us to wait on You and be patient because You are an on time God. You are never late. Thank You Jesus for Your Son who long suffered so that we may have eternal life in You. Thank You Jesus. Amen.21 day fastbiblechristiandaniel fastFaithfruit of the spiritpatienceperserveranceprincesskemispiritual fasttribulationwaiting on God
